Advanced Micro Devices Inc (NASDAQ:AMD, ETR:AMD) has stepped up competition with Nvidia Corp (NASDAQ:NVDA, ETR:NVD), unveiling its latest MI350 AI processors and previewing the advanced MI400 series at its recent Advancing AI event.
The new MI350X and MI355X chips promise four times the computing performance and a significant boost in inferencing capabilities compared to previous models.
Featuring 288GB of advanced HBM3E memory, AMD's chips surpass Nvidia’s individual GPU memory capacity, although Nvidia maintains an edge with its dual-GPU superchip configuration.
In addition, AMD introduced its Developer Cloud platform, enabling easy cloud-based access to high-performance AI hardware, directly competing with Nvidia’s similar service.
Looking further ahead, AMD plans to release the MI400 GPUs in 2026, positioning them as direct rivals to Nvidia’s future high-end GPUs, promising even greater memory and processing speeds.
