BioHarvest Sciences Inc. (NASDAQ:BHST) CEO Ilan Sobel talked with Proactive about the company’s newest addition to its Vinia product line, a daily “2X formula” chew, specifically designed for athletes and highly active consumers.
The chew delivers 12mg of Piceid Resveratrol, doubling the dose found in the original capsule format.
Proactive: All right, welcome back inside our Proactive newsroom. And joining me now is Ilan Sobel. He's the CEO of BioHarvest Sciences. Ilan, good to have you back again. How are you?
Ilan Sobel: It's fantastic to see you again today. I'm doing just fine.
Good stuff, well, good to hear. Out with another product from your Vinia line that has a number of different products that you've talked about in the past, that you're going to continue to introduce for certain market segmentation. And today it's a daily chew. So tell me a little bit about these chews and the formulation that they have.
So, it's not just a daily chew. It's literally a daily 2X formula chew. This product has been specifically designed to meet the needs of athletes and super active consumers who are constantly on the go—working out, managing their job, and handling family life.
The idea came a couple of years ago when we worked with athletes in the NFL combine. We learned that the dosage required for noticeable impact was two capsules of Vinia. That led us to create a chew with 12mg of Piceid Resveratrol—our key ingredient—compared to 6mg in the capsule.
The chew is great tasting, easy to consume, and delivers the dosage that super active individuals are looking for. It’s only 15 calories per chew. Importantly, the product is certified by Informed Sport, the largest global validator for anti-doping standards, testing for over 500 substances.
Yeah, and obviously that's very important for athletes, especially high-level ones, because we’ve all seen incidents involving banned substances in everyday medications. So that certification is really important as you market this to athletes, correct?
Correct. It's critical. We see demand among both amateur and professional athletes who want that third-party verification. Informed Sport certification is accepted by professional sports bodies and also by the military, which is now requiring this level of third-party certification.
This opens up new channels for Vinia and allows us to reach a broader consumer base. With our strong product-market fit, especially like we have with our capsule for older age groups, we expect this chew to drive incremental revenue and customer acquisition.
And Ilan, lastly, you mentioned the capsules, which is where it all started. But you've also added now the chews, tea, coffee—a number of different products. I would imagine there are more in the pipeline?
Yes. The strategy is a “Vinia inside” strategy—superior science using our botanical synthesis technology, superior efficacy backed by clinical trials, and superior taste verified by blind taste testing.
We want to offer a range of Vinia product propositions that impact different life stages. From athletes to senior consumers, we provide benefits like arterial dilation and improved blood flow.
We’ve said publicly that within the next 120 days, we’ll launch a new product targeting the US$16 billion US hydration market. It’s called Vinia Blood Flow Hydration, and it’s a unique and differentiated proposition.
