C3 Metals partners with Nine Miles of Smiles to provide critical dental care in Jamaica

C3 Metals CEO Dan Symons joined Steve Darling from Proactive to announce the company’s successful partnership with Nine Miles of Smiles in delivering essential dental care and oral hygiene education to the Bellas Gate community in rural Jamaica. This impactful initiative was made possible through a generous grant from the RCF Foundation, reinforcing C3 Metals’ dedication to fostering long-term, sustainable wellbeing in the communities where it operates. This after a chance meeting with Canadian Sprinter Donovan Bailey.
Symons emphasized that the outreach program reflects C3 Metals' broader vision of creating lasting value beyond its mineral exploration activities. By investing in sustainable opportunities and meaningful partnerships, the company aims to empower local communities in ways that endure well beyond its projects.
With financial support from the RCF Foundation, C3 Metals partnered with NMS, a 100% volunteer-run and registered Canadian non-profit charity, to set up a mobile dental clinic in the Bellas Gate region. The initiative provided critical dental care and health screenings to 175 individuals.
Beyond dental care, the initiative placed a strong emphasis on education and long-term impact. Grade 6 students were trained and certified as health advocates, equipping them to lead future oral hygiene efforts in their communities. Meanwhile, Grade 4 and 5 students engaged in hands-on projects exploring the health impacts of sugar, promoting healthier habits and critical thinking skills.
Through this collaboration, C3 Metals and NMS have not only improved immediate access to dental care but also laid the groundwork for sustainable health education in rural Jamaica. This initiative serves as a testament to C3 Metals’ commitment to responsible corporate citizenship and its dedication to enhancing community wellbeing beyond the mining sector.
